Plum Lip Picks!

Image
Plum is a favourite of everyone's when it comes to a fall lip. Not necessarily so for me, though- I prefer to break out my reds. Regardless, I can still appreciate a good plum lipstick now and again. Here are some of my top picks for evoking that autumnal, plum feel. L-R: Revlon Plum Velour, Too Faced Melted Fig, MAC So Be, Wet N Wild Sugar Plum Fairy. Not all of these are truly plum, but they're good purpley shades for when the weather gets chilly.  Swatches! Out of order from the previous picture, sorry. Top to Bottom: Revlon Plum Velour, Wet N Wild Sugar Plum Fairy, MAC So Be, Too Faced Melted Fig. Here's MAC's So Be on my lips. It's a grey, cool-toned purple. Revlon's Plum Velour is a sheer sheen the colour of sparkling plum juice. Wet N Wild's Sugar Plum Fairy is a true, opaque, rich plum with a mostly matte finish. It looks amazing on camera. Too Faced's Melted Fig is a subdued, dusty mau...

Colour of the day: seafoam

Image
These colour of the day posts were a good idea, but they could get a bit overwhelming. From now on I'll be sticking to not only specific colours for them, they'll be colours forecasted by Pantone for the season. As we end spring and go into summer, the perfect transition colour is seafoam. Admittedly I have a small seafoam collection, but just enough to make my eyes pop. I won't number these, but from top to bottom they are: -Wet n Wild I Dream of Greenie browbone (LE) -Wet n Wild I Dream of Greenie crease (LE) -Maybelline Icy Mint Colour Tattoo (LE) -Stila Stay All Day Liquid Waterproof Eyeliner in Turquoise Out of these, I wear I Dream Of Greenie the most. It's just so wearable (okay, for me, I acknowledge that seafoam doesn't fall in the range of what most people would consider 'wearable'). I don't reach for Icy Mint at all because I forget it exists most of the time. Stila Turquoise is a great pop of subtle colour on the l...

Megan Takes on the Trends: Marsala

Image
It's a surprise I put this off so long! Today I'm shopping my existing stash of makeup for the Pantone 2015 colour of the year- Marsala! When it was first revealed, I wasn't sure how to feel about it. It was so boring and not-me after the amazing Radiant Orchid of the past year. But I resolved to make it work. Still, I haven't gone seeking out anything Marsala in particular. This is what I have: A measly four products! I have the Maybelline Eyestudio Baked Shadow duo in Sinful Sinnamon (the left shade, obviously.) Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk (a bit of a stretch, I know.) Flower Cosmetics Colour Play Creme Eyeshadow in Awesome Blossom, which looks more Marsalesque in the jar than on the arm or eyes. And I also have Maybelline Creamy Matte lipstick in Touch of Spice. (L-R) Sinful Sinnamon (left shade), Pomegranate Punk, Awesome Blossom, Touch of Spice And here they are all slapped onto my face. The eye look didn't ...

Pantone Colour Report Spring 2015- Product Recommendations! Part 2

Image
Welcome to Part 2 of my product recommendations for the Spring 2015 trend report by Pantone! These colours are mostly used for fashion and interior design but I'm going to show you how to incorporate them onto your face as well! I think everyone deserves to have fun with colour. Strawberry Ice I'm a fan! This is a very approachable shade of pink. My Pick: NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick in Narcissus I think this would pair best with a bright eye colour! Or, alternatively...  Sephora Contour Eye Pencil in Strawberry Macaroon If you prefer to wear your pink on your eyes! Tangerine This colour swatch actually looks a little washed-out compared to what I was thinking!  My Pick: Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Fierce & Tangy I like to wear this intensely-pigment-packed cream shadow as a liner under my eyes, or a base for shadows of similar colours! Custard  I love yellow, but I'm more interested in wearing th...

Pantone Color Report Spring 2015- Product Recommendations! Part 1

Image
Here's Pantone's colour report for Spring 2015! I'm very excited. I love these colours, especially how they look together. Today I'm going to recommend some products, both drugstore and higher-end, that you can use to show you're hip to this season's trends! Aquamarine While this colour isn't my favourite, it's certainly sophisticated while still being a little whimsical. It also makes a bolder pair with some of the other colours in the Trend Report. My Pick: Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Colour in Ice (silvery blue) Impart an otherwordly glistening wash of colour to your eyelids! Scuba Blue Oh, man. I was obsessed with Scuba Blue about two years ago, so I'm actually glad, if slightly mortified, to dig out all my makeup of this shade. My Pick: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Cosmetic Colour Pencil in Pool Boy It's a perfect colour match and stays on the waterline really well for an unexpected pop of colour! Lucite Green ...

My Top 3 Spring Makeup Trends

Image
I walked outside this morning and it wasn't in the negatives. I may have flipped out a little bit in realization that it was time to change up my makeup routine! I resolved to bring out the baby-blues and bright oranges, but decided to check out the runway trends anyway for on-trend ideas. Here's what I found and liked! 1. All About the Eyeliner Death to the smokey eye- eyes on the runway were dominated by graphic liner this season. Ready-for-takeoff wings, painted colour and even spikes were seen around the world! I'm actually pretty bad with liner, but I'm excited to try new things, especially since any screw-up will be seen as a bold statement. You can't go wrong! 2. Lavender My favourite colour (okay, one of many, but this is the colour my room has been painted all of my life) makes a comeback! Last year's trend was lavender lips, and now it seems it's moved up to the eyes and cheeks. It's best paired with a groomed but natural-looking bro...
