Series of Looks: Eurovision-Inspired Part II

People seem to really like my Eurovision-inspired looks, so here's another batch!

Austria 2016: Loin D'ici by Zoe

This is one of my favourite songs from this year's selection, which has a lot to do with the aesthetic that both the song and the video evoke. It reminds me of fairy princesses! For this look, I used mostly my Urban Decay Electric palette- Savage and Jilted in the crease, Urban on the outer corner and Revolt on the lid. I then used Colourpop's Piggy Bank Creme Gel liner for my wing and waterline. I used a very bubblegum-pink blush- essence Pinky Flow- and a combination of OCC lip tars in Iced (frosty white), Hoochie (magenta purple) and NSFW (true red) on the lips.

Russia 2016- You Are The Only One by Sergey Lazarev

My absolute favourite song this year! This is more of a fun look- I used the colours in the music video for inspiration. For the eyes, I used Fran, Destroyer and Analogue from the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix palette in the crease, Silver from the LORAC Pro 2 palette on the lid, and Black from the same palette on the outer corner. I then used my Benefit They're Real! Push-Up Liner to create a wing. On the lower lashline, I used a light blue shadow that I can't remember the name of- I think it was in a Hard Candy palette- and an essence silver eyeliner. The inner corner highlight is Wet N Wild's Hollywood Blvd. highlight.

I used my Milani Rose Blush in Coral Cove and the Wet N Wild Hollywood Blvd. highlight on my cheeks. For the lips, I created a combination of NYX Liquid Suede cream lipstick and OCC lip tar in Iced.

Romania 2016- Moment of Silence by Ovidiu Anton

Now this was fun to do. My second favourite song from this year's selection makes me feel like I should be carrying a torch through a dungeon somewhere. I used tape to make the wings of the eyeshadow nice and sharp, and went in with the black shadow from the Stila Eyes Are The Window to the Mind palette everywhere. I tightlined and did my waterline with the Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer, and for the lower lashline, I went in with the black shadow for the outer half. For the inner half and corner, I used Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow in Flamethrower. On the lips is the Bite Beauty Luminous Creme lipstick in Mimosa.

Ukraine 2016- 1944 by Jamala

Now this is a very emotional song. I wanted the look to be stark and haunting, the eyes kind of "burnt", if you will. I used my Stila Eyes are the Window to the Mind palette, building up warm browns, oranges and reds in the crease and then covering the lid with black. I spent a lot of time smoking it out. The lower lashline was created by repeating the warm shades and blending them out messily, then adding black very close to the lashline. For the inner corner, I used Beige from the LORAC Pro 2 palette. I used a very light nude lipstick, ELF Moisturizing lipstick in Party In the Buff, to put the focus on the eyes.

UK 2016- You're Not Alone by Joe and Jake

I used my new Colourpop goodies for this look! First, I added a bit of Anthem from the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix palette to the crease. Then I created a halo eye with Lace on the inner and outer third of the eye, and Telepathy in the middle, both from Colourpop. I put a bit of Wet N Wild's Hollywood Blvd. highlight in the inner corner. Then I applied Colourpop's Piggy Bank Creme gel liner to my waterline. On the lips is the essence liquid lipstick in Beauty Secret.

Hope you enjoyed these looks!

March 2016 Empties!

It honestly felt like I ran through a lot of stuff this month, but honestly, it probably only seemed that way because I was running out of things I didn't have replacements for (and sometimes couldn't afford to replace). Here's the products I used up this month!

Herbal Essences Tea-Lightfully Clean Shampoo: I would repurchase this! I used it as my second shampoo- first I use Head & Shoulders, and then I would use this as a way to clean my hair and get all of the residue from the first shampoo out. This shampoo was a thinner, waterier consistency than most, and I found that the tea tree oil helped reduce my shoulder acne.

Marc Jacobs Highliner in Blacquer: I'm so sad I ran out of this! This is my holy grail eyeliner for the waterline and I can't afford to replace it right now. I will repurchase it when I get the chance, though.

Annabelle Stay Sharp Retractable Eyebrow Pencil: This was a very nice eyebrow pencil, soft and a great shade, but it only lasted me two months. So I'm going to stick to something cheaper and longer-lasting.

Wet N Wild Coverall Cream Foundation in Fair: This is my holy grail foundation and I already have another tube on the go. This tube lasted me a long time- at least 7 months!

What did you go through this month? Any holy grail products?

March Favourites 2016!

March is over, and now finals begin for me! I didn't wear much makeup this past month- depression hit me hard- but here's what I found myself reaching for a lot over the past month.

First, the Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Piggy Bank- this stuff is amazing. I have a full review forthcoming, so I'll try to be short, but this liner is the most gorgeous, pigmented eyeliner I've ever tried and it stayed OVER 24 HOURS (I was having a marathon, don't judge) on the waterline!

Next, I've been grabbing the Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Telepathy more often than not. It's basically my favourite eyeshadow (Fortune Teller by Makeup Geek) except more metallic and in cream form. Love this.

Then, a mascara- the Givenchy Phenomeneyes was my OG favourite mascara and I finally scored another GWP of it. It makes my lashes so long and the unique ball brush captures every lash!

Under the mascara, I've been wearing the Urban Decay Subversion lash primer. This stuff doesn't mess around. It makes my lashes so voluminous, it's nuts. Love!

Here I'm wearing Telepathy on the centre of the lid, and Piggy Bank on the waterline!

Sorry for the wonky picture, but here's the rest of my favourites!

I've had a serious obsession with the LORAC Alter Ego lipstick in Girl Next Door. It's a light baby pink that I've been pairing with tons of different glosses. I love this lipstick because of how incredibly pigmented it is, and its lasting power is awesome too!

Now that it's getting warmer, I've been putting down my super-cool-toned contours and gone back to contouring with my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer on casual days! I love the subtle hint of warmth this adds to my face, while still acting as a decent contour.

Finally, the essence liquid lipstick in Show Off. It's not a liquid lipstick, it's a highly pigmented lip gloss, and I love it! It's a gorgeous vibrant pink shade and tastes like candy. Perfect for spring!

Here I'm wearing Girl Next Door with a Bite Beauty Gloss on top!

What were your favourite products of the month? Anything you think I should try out?

My Top 5 Pink Lippies for Spring!

So, here's the thing. I love pink lipstick, but we took a break over the fall and winter. I was trying new things- nudes, browns, navies- but now that it's spring, me and my pink lippies are back, and we're going strong. Here are my favourite five pink lip picks for this spring! I've got a mix of glosses, balms, traditional and liquid lipsticks.

(L-R: essence Show Off, NYX Life's a Beach, Revlon HD Flirt, LORAC Girl Next Door, H&M Sweet Pea)

Here are the swatches! We've got all shades of pink here.

Make no mistakes, this 'liquid lipstick' by essence is anything but- it's a highly pigmented, very sticky lipgloss. While I was expecting a more traditional liquid lipstick, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I love this product! I never know how to describe this shade of pink- it's like the outside of a dragonfruit, I guess? LOL. This gloss has great staying power and the stickiness doesn't bother me- if you've ever tried Bite Beauty's lip glosses, this essence liquid lipstick has a very similar formula. It also tastes like candy!

Another liquid lipstick, this time one of NYX's Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks. This one is Life's A Beach, a very pale coral pink shade. I originally thought this would be very unflattering on me, and granted, if I'm not wearing a full face of makeup, it does look rather out of place. But when I need a lip colour to brighten up my face- and that's perfect for spring- I reach for Life's a Beach!

This next one is also billed as a liquid lipstick but it's more of an ultra-comfortable lip cream. It's the Revlon Ultra HD Matte lipcolour in HD Flirt, a beautiful coral that leans a little pinky-peach. I find that it's perfect for spring- I love to pair this one with springy green eyeshadow!

A traditional lipstick! This one, unfortunately, you can't get in Canada- it's the LORAC Alter Ego Highly Pigmented lipstick in Girl Next Door. It's a very light cotton candy baby pink, and I didn't think this was going to look good at all- I ordered it online and expected more of a rose petal shade- but I've been borderline obsessed with this lipstick for about a month now. It looks especially good with a pink or nude gloss on top, is so effortless and creamy, lasts forever, and the pigmentation on this sucker is insane for such a light shade. It doesn't look chalky either! Huge kudos to LORAC on this one!

Finally, and different from the rest, I have the H&M Sheer lipstick in Sweet Pea, a very light pink tinted lip balm. The feeling of it is rather thick on the lips, but it looks like practically nothing- just makes your lips look rosy and juicy. So easy to slap on!

What's your favourite colour of makeup to wear in the spring?
