Shopping My Stash: Living Coral!

Image
The Pantone Institute has revealed their Colour of the Year for 2019 to be Living Coral! I've followed the Colour of The Year for a few years now, since Radiant Orchid, and I'm excited to once again see a colour that will incorporate well into makeup looks! Pantone Institute When I was younger, we're talking like age nine to twelve, I remember hating coral with a passion. I thought it contrasted with my colouring in a super unflattering way, making me look even more pasty and straw-like than I already did. I also just hated anything pink, but that's a whole dysphoria thing that we can get into later.  However, then I got into makeup, and figured out that coral lipstick lit up my whole face. I started seeking it out and was frustrated that I couldn't find a lot of coral shadow, liner, blush or the like, just the occasional muted coral lipstick. So I kind of forgot about the colour until now, and the Pantone Institute has reunited my love for it! I decid...

December '17- January '18 Favourites!

Image
I think out of all the things I had missed blogging about, I missed doing my monthly favourites posts t he most. I love looking back and reflecting on what products I was impressed by, loved using, and kept reaching for again and again. So today’s post is going to be about my favourite products from the last two months! December sort of bleeds into January in my memory, so I’ll be talking about my favourites from “the past little while”, not strictly a month back. Hold tight, this is gonna be a long one, folks. The first products I just have to mention are a recent launch by Sephora Collection! I’m talking about their Lipstories lipsticks! I have the shades (L-R) Desert Trip, Twolips, Ice Breaker, Labyrinth City, and Trippin. From the second I saw the teaser pics for this launch, I knew I needed to own at least one of these lipsticks, if only for the packaging. I picked up the shade Twolips and ended up falling head over heels for the...

February Favourites 2016!

Image
February, the shortest month of the year, has almost come to an end, and while I wasn't enamored with too many products this month, I definitely fell hard for a couple. So we've got a blush, an eyeliner, an eyeshadow palette and ... a concealer?! Other than Maybelline Fit Me? This may be interesting. And with the exception of the eyeliner, I bought all of these products this month. I bought the Stila Eyes Are the Window to the Mind eyeshadow palette as a splurge for my birthday, after wanting it for probably a year. I'm so impressed with the quality of this all-matte palette, and now I have no desire to seek out any other matte shadows. These are perfect. The orange shade is my favourite, there are so many beautiful transition shades, the black is such good quality, and that dark plum is such a great, unexpected colour to deepen the outer corner with! Additionally, these blend like a dream. I just, freaking love this palette. The Urban Decay Velvet 24/7 Glide-...

November Favourites 2015!

Image
Well, November is over, and so finals begin. I jumped right back into makeup as a coping mechanism while writing my term papers- so here are my favourites for this month! Only a few things this month, and the majority of them eye stuff! I finally learned how to do eye shadow properly this month and got really excited- thank you, YouTube tutorials. I finally learned what transition shades and blending were.... Let's get to it! I fell back in love with my Electric Palette by Urban Decay- particularly the shades Urban (blue-purple) and Fringe (the teal, which I'd never particularly liked before). I discovered the magic of layering these shadows over a black base. It's incredible! Here are some looks I've done with the palette! Said black base is the NYX Jumbo Shadow pencil in Black Bean. This base is the bomb. Fully opaque, matte black, a little sticky, smudgable, and makes shadows pop! NYX's Jumbo eye pencil in Milk (white) is already my Holy Gra...

October 2015 Beauty Favourites

Image
October went both fast and slow for me. Midterms, Thanksgiving and Halloween took up most of my time, so I definitely didn't get to do all that much makeup-wise. Thus, I came out of the month with some clear favourites, or things I found myself using over and over again. Here they are! Ta-daaa. A lot of lip products, as per usual, and a lot of Urban Decay. 1. Urban Decay Ultra Definition Naked Skin Powder Foundation in Fair Cool This stuff is awesome and I've often been forgoing my usual routine of 3-concealers and liquid foundation for a layer of this bad boy right here. The coverage on this is truly impressive and so useful for when I'm in a rush but my skin looks awful. It evens out my skin, covers redness, and gives a natural finish. I use the sponge to apply it, and a small brush to get my undereyes. This can be used wet or dry, depending on the amount of coverage you want. My only complaint about this powder is that I don't find that it's fair or coo...

Plum Eyeshadow: 3 Ways!

Image
Keeping with the CBB's September Plum theme, I had a serious brainstorming session to come up with plum-related posts. Eventually I settled on detailing three different ways on how to wear plum eyeshadow! Let's get going. #1: As a Sheer Wash of Colour Plum shadow is surprisingly sophisticated when used as your only eyeshadow, especially as a sheer wash of colour. For this look, you're going to want to take a fluffy brush and a warm, pinky plum shadow with some shimmer to it. I chose this shade from the Wet N Wild Silver Lake Thrift Store Chic palette. Dip your fluffy shadow brush gently in the shadow, then begin patting it on your lid. Keep going to just above your crease and around the outer corner. Make sure you have any dark circles covered, and make sure your brows are well-groomed but not too bold. This will make your eyes stand out, without being too distracting. Alternatively, start by dabbing the shadow into the cen...
