February Favourites 2016!

Image
February, the shortest month of the year, has almost come to an end, and while I wasn't enamored with too many products this month, I definitely fell hard for a couple. So we've got a blush, an eyeliner, an eyeshadow palette and ... a concealer?! Other than Maybelline Fit Me? This may be interesting. And with the exception of the eyeliner, I bought all of these products this month. I bought the Stila Eyes Are the Window to the Mind eyeshadow palette as a splurge for my birthday, after wanting it for probably a year. I'm so impressed with the quality of this all-matte palette, and now I have no desire to seek out any other matte shadows. These are perfect. The orange shade is my favourite, there are so many beautiful transition shades, the black is such good quality, and that dark plum is such a great, unexpected colour to deepen the outer corner with! Additionally, these blend like a dream. I just, freaking love this palette. The Urban Decay Velvet 24/7 Glide-...

31 Beauty Favourites of 2015: Day 6- Blush

Image
On the 6th day of beauty... I talk about my favourite blush of the year! Well... my three favourite blushes. Blush is a very seasonal thing for me, so I picked one favourite blush for each season, excluding winter, which hasn't even landed in my city yet (is this what living in BC feels like?) My favourite blush in the springtime was hands-down, my Joe Fresh colour adjust blush in Coral. It's a beautiful blush, a bit powdery, super pigmented and the colour of a ripe peach. In the spring, it wouldn't change colour on me much- it looked pretty much the same on my cheeks as in the pan. But once I tried to wear this is the summer (to my job at a pizza place, no less) and the heat of my face turned it bright pink. It looked awful! But for the spring, I just couldn't get enough of this blush. Aaand here it is on my face! The blush I couldn't get enough of in the summertime was the Josie Maran Coconut Watercolour Cheek Gelee in Pink Escape. It looks incre...

Exclusively Canadian FOTD!

Image
When it comes to Canadian cosmetics, I can be a bit spoiled for choice. Compared to my makeup collection at whole, I guess it doesn't look like much, but it's not much to shake a stick at! I wanted to do a makeup look using only Canadian makeup and realized that while I have lots of Canadian lipstick and blush, I lack Canadian incarnations of eyebrow products, concealer, eyeshadow primer, everyday staples like that. I actually had to run out to the store earlier today upon realizing I didn't have any foundation, powder or concealer that was Canadian- I settled on a loose powder by Joe Fresh then ran back home to do this post. Here's all the stuff I chose to smack on my face! ... Set against the beautiful background of a majorly outdated Toronto skyline. For my lips, I went with Bite Beauty, eliminating all of my Marcelle products. Sorry, Marcelle. I chose the lip primer, Luminous Creme lipstick in Violet, and lip gloss in Nine from the Watercolou...

My Top 5 Summer Nail Polishes Under 5 Dollars

Image
After years of thinking I was an autumn person, or a spring person, I have determined that I am definitely a summer person. Eating whenever I feel like it... forgetting what day of the week it is... and being able to paint my nails and having time for them to dry! Here's my top five picks for summer nails under five dollars. For summer, I'm a big fan of solid colours. I find that a solid creme in a bright primary or secondary colour can complement a tank and a pair of jean shorts like no nail art could dream of.  First up is Joe Fresh Tomato, a bright true balanced red. Then this one- my personal favourite- Rimmel London 60 Seconds polish in Blue My Mind, a fun light blue creme. It does chip like a bugger though. Revlon Parfumerie's Sunlit Grass, a bright sunshine yellow creme, is a staple for me in the warmer months. Sinful Colors' Exotic Green is one I thought I wouldn't like, but I find it really different. You don't often...

2015- March Favourites!

Image
March was a huge shopping month for me what with the March Break smack in the middle. So this month's favourites include some tried-and-true products as well as some new players! On with the show! 1. Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven A newbie! I bought this because I saw it on Beauty Reductionista eons ago and fell in love with the colour, plus my liquid lipstick kick is still going strong. Man, this stuff is pricey, and probably dupeable, but it makes me feel like a million bucks. I wore it for a whole week straight, which is something I've only ever done with two other lipsticks (Revlon's Iced Amethyst and Rimmel's Alarm, if you were wondering. 2. Maybelline Fit Me concealer in shade 15 Fair I've already sung the praises for Maybelline's newer Master Conceal, but while it's perfect for under my eyes, it's a bit thick for concealing the blemishes on my chin and jaw so it tends to cake a bit on my dry skin. So I picked ...

Megan Takes on the Trends: Tangerine

Image
Earlier I posted what colours are on trend for this season of Spring 2015, and now I've decided that I'm going to shop my stash for those colours to see what I already have! Here are my picks for Tangerine. They're not exactly "Tangerine", all of them, but they're all orangey and evoke the same feeling. I've got one eye product, two cheek products and one lip product (I would have included Wet N Wild's 24 Carrot Gold but I forgot it at my mom's house!) Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Fierce & Tangy Joe Fresh Mousse Blush in Melon Joe Fresh Colour-Changing Blush in Coral And Maybelline ColorSensational Vivids Lipstick in Electric Orange. (Top to Bottom) Fierce & Tangy, Melon, Coral, Electric Orange (Top to Bottom) Fierce &Tangy, Melon, Coral, Electric Orange And then I decided to slap them all on my face at the same time for the ultimate tangerine look! I created a wing using a small conceal...
