Nail of the Day: Plummy Iridescent

Image
The CBB's theme for the month of September is Plum, so I've prepared a few plummy posts just in time for the month to end (whoops)! The first are these nails. I'll have to admit, they're not extremely plummy, but I felt like experimenting with neutrals and rich tones. I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Greige, and Zoya Margot for my plum(ish) accent nail. Then I applied this Revlon Iridescent top coat to the nails painted with Greige. It has little purple iridescent shimmers in a pearly glaze. I finished the whole thing off with the Pro-FX Quick Dry High Gloss Top Coat. How did it turn out? I'd say pretty well! Not the most thought-out colour pairing, but I like the way the iridescent topcoat looks over Greige. Shiiiiny. Well? What do you think? What's your favourite plum nail polish?

Neon Lasers Nail Art

Whoa, a nail art post?! I was inspired by the CBB's theme of the month, which is neon! I was inspired by a rave show. I used some neon Stripe Rite stripers from Sally Beauty Supply to create 'lasers' over a sky blue Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polish. And there's some shots over my galaxy-print leggings to add to the theme.  Well, I hope you liked my first and probably only nail art post on this blog!

Just Another Mani Monday

I am so sorry for that title. But I wanted to show off my nails while simultaneously hopping on a bandwagon and making a pop culture reference. So sue me! Here are today's nails. I used Sally Hansen's nail polish strips for the first time and I'm still not sure how to feel about them.  I didn't do the best or most patient job of applying them, but hey! Glitter! I'm going to try applying a top coat tonight and see how that goes! Right now they peel slightly when caught on something, so hopefully a top coat will fix that.  TL;DR: I am literally made of glitter.

Mani-Pedi Monday!

In making this post, I made an important discovery about myself: I am an impatient person, and thus do not like painting my nails. But I suffered through, for you guys, to show you my crapshoot at covering the tips of my fingers and toes in coloured chemicals. I used Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes in Style Maker for my toes and Black-y O for my fingers. Unfortunately, I don't have the Miracle Gel topcoat. I am a failure. The polish was very thick, there was tons of it, and it was impossible to get a thick coat. It also got tacky really easily, but took a long time to really dry. It tended to slide down my fingernails and group near the cuticles if I didn't keep my hands completely flat. Also, I suck at painting my nails. Style Maker. Black-y O. I won't be using these polishes again, at least without the topcoat. Oh well. I have lots of polish, and at least I stole (ahem... borrowed) these from my sister. I just thought I'd do a different kind of po...
