April Favourites- 2016!

Image
This month was a busy one- finals, moving back home, and I've been working nights at a barn away from home for the past two weeks. I didn't wear much makeup at all, which makes this favourites post a strange one. I usually have all-makeup favourites posts, but this month, only one item is makeup related! So let's get down and dirty with it. I've even got a hair product in there! This is the OGX Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist. I've never been one to fuss with my hair beyond blow-drying it on occasion- I can't even be arsed to buy conditioner. However, I saw this in my mom's cabinet while plugging in the hair dryer and thought, "Oh, why not?" This mist makes my hair feel soooo soft and not greasy at all. It has a very strong, sweet coconut scent that lingers for hours. I personally love that- it makes me feel ethereal and very put together. I just spray this on the ends of my hair before I blow dry it and bam, I'm in the trop...

March 2016 Empties!

Image
It honestly felt like I ran through a lot of stuff this month, but honestly, it probably only seemed that way because I was running out of things I didn't have replacements for (and sometimes couldn't afford to replace). Here's the products I used up this month! Herbal Essences Tea-Lightfully Clean Shampoo: I would repurchase this! I used it as my second shampoo- first I use Head & Shoulders, and then I would use this as a way to clean my hair and get all of the residue from the first shampoo out. This shampoo was a thinner, waterier consistency than most, and I found that the tea tree oil helped reduce my shoulder acne. Marc Jacobs Highliner in Blacquer: I'm so sad I ran out of this! This is my holy grail eyeliner for the waterline and I can't afford to replace it right now. I will repurchase it when I get the chance, though. Annabelle Stay Sharp Retractable Eyebrow Pencil: This was a very nice eyebrow pencil, soft and a great shade, but it only last...

November Favourites 2015!

Image
Well, November is over, and so finals begin. I jumped right back into makeup as a coping mechanism while writing my term papers- so here are my favourites for this month! Only a few things this month, and the majority of them eye stuff! I finally learned how to do eye shadow properly this month and got really excited- thank you, YouTube tutorials. I finally learned what transition shades and blending were.... Let's get to it! I fell back in love with my Electric Palette by Urban Decay- particularly the shades Urban (blue-purple) and Fringe (the teal, which I'd never particularly liked before). I discovered the magic of layering these shadows over a black base. It's incredible! Here are some looks I've done with the palette! Said black base is the NYX Jumbo Shadow pencil in Black Bean. This base is the bomb. Fully opaque, matte black, a little sticky, smudgable, and makes shadows pop! NYX's Jumbo eye pencil in Milk (white) is already my Holy Gra...

October 2015 Beauty Favourites

Image
October went both fast and slow for me. Midterms, Thanksgiving and Halloween took up most of my time, so I definitely didn't get to do all that much makeup-wise. Thus, I came out of the month with some clear favourites, or things I found myself using over and over again. Here they are! Ta-daaa. A lot of lip products, as per usual, and a lot of Urban Decay. 1. Urban Decay Ultra Definition Naked Skin Powder Foundation in Fair Cool This stuff is awesome and I've often been forgoing my usual routine of 3-concealers and liquid foundation for a layer of this bad boy right here. The coverage on this is truly impressive and so useful for when I'm in a rush but my skin looks awful. It evens out my skin, covers redness, and gives a natural finish. I use the sponge to apply it, and a small brush to get my undereyes. This can be used wet or dry, depending on the amount of coverage you want. My only complaint about this powder is that I don't find that it's fair or coo...

July 2015 Empties!

Image
Hey guys! First of all, let it be known how sorry I am for these impromptu hiatuses. I've been really busy with work since they transferred me to night shift and I've been spending days asleep and nights awake. Not very good for makeup blogging. Also, both my laptop and phone went kaput and I had to get new ones- still figuring out the ups and downs and ins and outs of both devices. But I managed to keep track of my empties this month- and there's quite a few! I'm really proud of how many products I finished, since that almost never happens. Here they are! 1. Delon Cotton Pads: I really like these. They're well-woven and not fluffy, and they have a textured cloth layer over one side which makes them perfect for taking off nail polish and liquid lipstick, yet they're just soft enough to take off eye makeup! They don't fall apart when scrubbing at stubborn arm swatches either. Total win! Have several backups, will repurchase and I don't think I...

Monthly Favourites: May 2015

Image
Here we are, children. June 2. I'm sharing today my favourites from the past month- with very blurry, low-quality pictures, courtesy of the awful, dark, stormy weather. And here they all are! I've got some makeup, skincare and polish. This month is less about specific shades and more about general products, formulas and brands. Makeup Geek Foiled Shadow in Fortune Teller I can't believe I almost didn't get this one. I made a medium-sized MUG order and it arrived this month, and I immediately became obsessed with this bright yellow-gold foil, Fortune Teller. It's perfect.  Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Harlot I picked Harlot as my favourite here because it's gorgeous on the lips, but really, I've rekindled my love for lip tar. I now own 16 shades and want to wear them every day! Country Cabin Candles and Soap Moisturizing Lotion in Sweet Orange Chili Pepper I discovered this brand in early May and quickly becam...

April 2015 Favourites!

Image
Ugh, hey guys, it may as well be halfway through May and here I am posting my April favourites. What happened is that I wrote this entire post and then tried to add a few extra pictures, and then Blogger froze up. I lost the whole post and then my inspiration/motivation to get it done went poot. But here are the things I've loved this past month. There are a lot of surprising ones, even for me. NYC?! Black eyeliner?! Skincare?! I feel like I almost don't know who I am anymore. Marcelle Rouge Xpression Lipstick in Cleopatra First is a sleeper hit for me. I picked this up because Marcelle was March's brand of the month for the CBB. I ended up loving this plum/raspberry colour, and since Marcelle prides themselves in making hypoallergenic cosmetics, there's no fragrance or scent to this lipstick, which is a huge deal-maker for me. Plus the history-related name made it hard to resist. I love this lipstick and must have worn it a quarter of the month, at least....

Project Finish-It: March Update!

Image
Hey guys! Here's this month's installation of progress on my Project Finish-It items! This month I've opted to only show you the things I've made visible progress on. Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Cream Start: 65% remaining February: 45% remaining Now: 25% remaining  February vs. March Wowee. Look at all that progress! I'll actually be sad to see this go because I've grown to love it, but I do have another powder waiting in the wings. Too Faced Jingle All the Way Phone Palette  February vs. March Not tracking percentages on this one, but look, I hit pan on two shades in one month! And the pan on that highlight shade is huge. Estee Lauder Hydra Bright Moisturizer February: 25% remaining March: 18% remaining I still don't like this. Now it's a toe cream. Vaseline Lip Therapy Cocoa Butter February: 75% remaining March: 71% remaining I keep forgetting to use this but since I just started a job, I...
