31 Beauty Favourites of 2015: Day 12- Eyeshadow Palettes (Eye Extras)

Image
My day 12 for my favourites of 2015 is supposed to be "eye extras"- so I chose two palettes I've been loving this year! The first is my Too Faced Jingle All the Way Phone palette. It was part of my use-it-up 2015, so I used this a whole ton in the first half of the year. Here's my (really badly done) review on it- that's all you need to know. But then... the Lorac Pro 2 palette came into my life around June and changed everything. These shadows are amazing, pigmented and soft. I never did neutral eyes until I encountered this palette, but now I also use it almost every single time I do colourful makeup too! I mostly used the left side of the palette (I've since hit pan on Buff, the top left shade). Here are some looks I've done with it. Cool Gray and Lt. Brown are the stars of the show here. Cool Gray is probably my favourite shade in the whole palette- it's so unique! And here's a look featuring some of the rose-gold-y s...

Review: GOSH Trio Eyeshadow in Tropic Fever

Image
Remember when I reviewed the GOSH eyeshadow trio in Limelight and wished it had been a bit brighter? Well, meet Limelight's bolder sister, Tropic Fever. It contains three shadows that are on the powdery side, all shimmery and nicely pigmented. Shadow 1 is a bright shimmery banana yellow. Shadow 2 is a shimmering cerulean. Shadow 3 is an acid green. These shadows go beautifully together- the only problem I've encountered is that when you blend Shadow 2 into Shadow 1, it turns green!  In all of these pictures I'm wearing all three shadows. In this look, the blue blended right into the yellow to create a green. In this look I lined my top and bottom lashlines with the blue shade. Here I tried to do a spotlight-effect with the yellow.  These shadows fade after five hours without a white base, and ten with. I use the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk.  If you can find this trio, pick it up! It's gorgeous and has become on...

Review: Wet N Wild Silver Lake Collection- California Roll Eyeshadow Palette

Image
Imagine my surprise when I walked into a Rexall in Sault Ste. Marie (I just accepted Algoma University's offer of admission!) and saw all of the Wet N Wild LE Silver Lake palettes sitting there in front of me. I panicked and bought all of them, but today I'll just be reviewing the one I was the most excited about, California Roll. This palette contains six mostly-bright shades. You can see why I was so excited!  Usually I'd number the swatches, but I think y'all can tell what order I'm going in. Shadow 1 is a butter-coloured shimmer. Shadow 2 is a shimmery beachy colour with silver glitter. Shadow 3 is a lime green satin with silver glitter. It's rather dry. Shadow 4 is a satin peach with an extremely powdery, chalky consistency. Shadow 5 is a beautiful blue-teal shimmer, the colour of tropical waters. Sadly, it's not as impressive on the eyes as it is on the arm. Shadow 6 is a powdery red satin. It...

Review: BareMinerals Eyeshadow duo in the Perfect Storm

Image
Today I'm reviewing a product that nearly everyone can get their hands on- a BareMinerals eyeshadow duo in Perfect Storm. I got it by entering 'READY' as my code when ordering from Sephora online. BareMinerals shadows are ridic' expensive but apparently very good quality, so I was practically jumping out of my jeans to try them. The small compact is cute and simple. It's got a similar texture to NARS packaging, but somehow manages to collect even MORE dust and schmutz. It has a little mirror and it came with a tiny applicator that I threw out. The shadows are the size you'd get in a palette with many shades- I could fit a dime on top of the pan, but not a nickel. The duo contains two fine-milled powder shadows, Cumulus and Tempest. (L-R) Cumulus, Tempest  Cumulus is a matte white that's rather impressive as far as matte whites go. Tempest is a dark, stormy grey-taupe. It's nice when paired with a bright li...

Review: GOSH trio eyeshadow in Limelight

Image
GOSH is a brand that holds a special place in my heart. I wore them exclusively for most of the tenth grade, due to buying a bunch in Canterbury on my school trip to England. They evoke fond memories. Naturally, I buy GOSH whenever I get the chance. Today I'm reviewing their Trio Eyeshadow in Limelight. It's housed in a plastic compact, fairly simple.  There's a divider in the middle, but it's not raised any higher than the eyeshadows so it's kinda just for show. The consistency of the shadow is very powdery. (Direct sunlight) (Indirect natural light) Going clockwise from the top left- Shadow 1 is a light yellow-green satin, the colour of grasshopper pie (oh man, now I want some grasshopper pie.) Shadow 2 is a denim blue shimmer. It takes a bit of building to get it to look true to colour on the eyelids and it produces quite a bit of fallout. Shadow 3 is a light straw yellow with golden shimmer. Here they are all slapped...

Review: Hard Candy Top Ten Trendsetters Palette in Birthday Suit

Image
Sometimes you have to buy something based on a hypothesis. I like the Hard Candy Top Ten palettes, so I figured this one would be good too after waffling about it for a while. Birthday suit is- you guess it- a palette of nudes! They're all matte or satin, and there are a lot of highlight shades, which is how I eventually convinced myself to pick it up. Shadow 1 is a yellow-toned highlight satin with flaking issues if you try and pick up too much. Shadow 2 is a milk-chocolate brown satin. Shadow 3 is a dark-chocolate satin, pretty much the only crease shade this palette has. Shadow 4 is a pink-toned highlight with a nice enough texture. Shadow 5 is a taupe with grey-purple undertones. Shadow 6 is the colour of a baby fox's fur. It's got the best texture of the lot.  Shadow 7 is a peach-toned highlight. Shadow 8 is a grey taupe. Shadow 9 is a midnight blue. Shadow 10 is a buttermilk highlight. So that's a total o...
