April Favourites- 2016!

Image
This month was a busy one- finals, moving back home, and I've been working nights at a barn away from home for the past two weeks. I didn't wear much makeup at all, which makes this favourites post a strange one. I usually have all-makeup favourites posts, but this month, only one item is makeup related! So let's get down and dirty with it. I've even got a hair product in there! This is the OGX Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist. I've never been one to fuss with my hair beyond blow-drying it on occasion- I can't even be arsed to buy conditioner. However, I saw this in my mom's cabinet while plugging in the hair dryer and thought, "Oh, why not?" This mist makes my hair feel soooo soft and not greasy at all. It has a very strong, sweet coconut scent that lingers for hours. I personally love that- it makes me feel ethereal and very put together. I just spray this on the ends of my hair before I blow dry it and bam, I'm in the trop...

October 2015 Beauty Favourites

Image
October went both fast and slow for me. Midterms, Thanksgiving and Halloween took up most of my time, so I definitely didn't get to do all that much makeup-wise. Thus, I came out of the month with some clear favourites, or things I found myself using over and over again. Here they are! Ta-daaa. A lot of lip products, as per usual, and a lot of Urban Decay. 1. Urban Decay Ultra Definition Naked Skin Powder Foundation in Fair Cool This stuff is awesome and I've often been forgoing my usual routine of 3-concealers and liquid foundation for a layer of this bad boy right here. The coverage on this is truly impressive and so useful for when I'm in a rush but my skin looks awful. It evens out my skin, covers redness, and gives a natural finish. I use the sponge to apply it, and a small brush to get my undereyes. This can be used wet or dry, depending on the amount of coverage you want. My only complaint about this powder is that I don't find that it's fair or coo...

My Top 5 Summer Nail Polishes Under 5 Dollars

Image
After years of thinking I was an autumn person, or a spring person, I have determined that I am definitely a summer person. Eating whenever I feel like it... forgetting what day of the week it is... and being able to paint my nails and having time for them to dry! Here's my top five picks for summer nails under five dollars. For summer, I'm a big fan of solid colours. I find that a solid creme in a bright primary or secondary colour can complement a tank and a pair of jean shorts like no nail art could dream of.  First up is Joe Fresh Tomato, a bright true balanced red. Then this one- my personal favourite- Rimmel London 60 Seconds polish in Blue My Mind, a fun light blue creme. It does chip like a bugger though. Revlon Parfumerie's Sunlit Grass, a bright sunshine yellow creme, is a staple for me in the warmer months. Sinful Colors' Exotic Green is one I thought I wouldn't like, but I find it really different. You don't often...

Review: Rimmel Colour Rush Balm in Drive Me Nude

Image
I don't know what's taken me so long to review this product, I've had it for eons! Probably the fact that this got lost in my drafts, but... here it is, Rimmel Colour Rush Balm in Drive Me Nude. This was the first nude lip product I ever picked up, so I decided to go with a tinted balm and start slow. The packaging is typical to other chubby balm sticks I've tried, such as Revlon's. It smells very different than others I've tried though- rather than being minty as is the norm, this has a rather strong, delicious scent of soft-serve vanilla ice cream. It's totally delectable. And I have an awful sense of smell too- I can't get any scent off of NYX's Butter products. The scent on this balm dissipates about five to ten minutes after application. Drive Me Nude is a strange colour- almost a red-toned beige. It's rather pinky too, and extremely glossy.  It's more subtle and less brown than I thought it would be. The co...

Review: Rimmel Apocalips in Stellar

Image
Life is full of second chances. I was feeling particularly generous one day, and decided to go through my "didn't work for me" basket and pick out a few things that I didn't really give a fair shot the first time around. One of those products was this Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer (or Apocalips) in Stellar. I think I didn't like it the first time around because of how milky it was on my lips. Here is its second shot! First off, its packaging is beautiful. I love the cap with its rock-candy appearance, and the ombre that shows off the colour of the product. It comes with a mostly-standard doe-foot applicator. It has a divot in the center and it's pretty stiff, not soft. Stellar is a gorgeous, opaque lacquer in a neon watermelon colour. The applicator allows for precise lines, and it takes 4 or 5 passes to get even coverage. The lacquer smells like watermelon jolly ranchers, but the scent dissipates after about 30 minutes. This is not a l...
