Low-Makeup Challenge? Week 1

Image
There I was, hopped up on my ADHD medication, when I thought I had a great idea. I dumped all of my makeup onto my bed and arranged them into piles by category: lippies, blushes, eyeliners, etc. Then I grabbed three ziploc freezer bags and labelled them 'WEEK 1', 'WEEK 2' and 'WEEK 3'. I grabbed a small handful with my eyes closed from each pile and dropped one handful into each bag. I theorized that for a whole week, all I'd be able to use was what was in each bag, and an eyeshadow palette of my choice. I'll also be able to use my project use-it-up items. Here's what I chose for this week. There's the assortment. Sadly two of the blushes are really bright, when I'm trying to make the eyeshadow palette the star of my looks. I've got e.l.f. shimmering facial whip in Lilac Petal as my highlighter, a sample of EveryDay Minerals blush in Cameo, essence silky touch blush in Life's a Cherry. and Joe Fresh mousse blush in Melon. ...

Neon Liner with Urban Decay

Image
The CBB's Theme of the Month and Brand of the Month for June fit very well together: neon, and Urban Decay. I recently expanded my UD liner collection and I'm glad I did- here's a neon look using all of them. These are the Urban Decay 24/7 glide-on eye pencils. From left to right I have Black Velvet, Deviant, Woodstock, Asphyxia and Freak. It doesn't look like much right here- it's actually very wearable. I would even go so far as to say that's it's a good look for a brights beginner, if it weren't for the fact that it's 100+ dollars worth of eyeliner I'm holding in my hand there (though I did NOT pay anywhere near full price for most of them- more on that later). Here's the double-wing from the side- Deviant on the top, Woodstock on the bottom. As you can see, I did my darnedest to blend Asphyxia into Deviant, and then Freak into that. You can see Freak a lot better here. Whoop, quick wardrobe change. I used B...

Neon FOTD!

Image
Hey guys! Just a quick pop-in post today- I'm going to share a random neon look with you. I was feeling frisky one day, grabbed some products I hadn't played with, and painted the town neon! Here's a good face shot. I went a little tame on this look, actually, to make the brows stand out. On my brows is essence teal colour flash mascara. On my eyes I used Sephora Collection Eye Contour Pencil in Banana Split and Colour proof waterproof liquid eyeliner in Love Story. On my lips is MAC's So Be topped with a lilac gloss from the Bite Beauty Watercolour Lip Library. Overall I think the look is quite successful! I'm excited to do more neon looks for this month.

Lip Swatch Friday: Urban Decay Sheer Ladyflower

Image
Hey folks! I'm going to be starting a series (and hopefully keeping up with it) where I post a lip swatch+mini review each Friday. I had a sample of UD's Sheer Ladyflower so that's today's! Here's a swatch of two swipes. It's very creamy but sheer, like a tinted lip balm.  It feels good on and gives my lips a rush of subtle colour. It's very glossy!  Hope you enjoyed the swatch!

June Guest Post: Neon EOTD with Amanda!

Image
Hey there! It's Amanda from Ginger Chic . It's that time of the month again when the Canadian Beauty Blogger members get to guest post for one another. This month I get to guest post for the beautiful Megan! June's Guest post theme is Neon. The first thing I thought of was my extensive collection of neon nail polishes but I decided to try a fun neon makeup look instead.   I created this neon inspired look using shadows from the new Anastasia Beverly Hills Artist Palette and the new Makeup Geek Foiled shadow in Pegasus.    For this look I started with the ABH Artist palette. I used the fluffy end of the brush that came with the palette and blended Dusty Rose into the crease. Then, using my finger as I find it gives the best application, I applied Pegasus all over my entire lid and used Dusty rose to blend it up into the crease. I then blended Unicorn, which is a beautiful periwinkle blue, into the crease and lower lash line and deepened the outer corner with...

Colour of the day: seafoam

Image
These colour of the day posts were a good idea, but they could get a bit overwhelming. From now on I'll be sticking to not only specific colours for them, they'll be colours forecasted by Pantone for the season. As we end spring and go into summer, the perfect transition colour is seafoam. Admittedly I have a small seafoam collection, but just enough to make my eyes pop. I won't number these, but from top to bottom they are: -Wet n Wild I Dream of Greenie browbone (LE) -Wet n Wild I Dream of Greenie crease (LE) -Maybelline Icy Mint Colour Tattoo (LE) -Stila Stay All Day Liquid Waterproof Eyeliner in Turquoise Out of these, I wear I Dream Of Greenie the most. It's just so wearable (okay, for me, I acknowledge that seafoam doesn't fall in the range of what most people would consider 'wearable'). I don't reach for Icy Mint at all because I forget it exists most of the time. Stila Turquoise is a great pop of subtle colour on the l...

Neon Lasers Nail Art

Image
Whoa, a nail art post?! I was inspired by the CBB's theme of the month, which is neon! I was inspired by a rave show. I used some neon Stripe Rite stripers from Sally Beauty Supply to create 'lasers' over a sky blue Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polish. And there's some shots over my galaxy-print leggings to add to the theme.  Well, I hope you liked my first and probably only nail art post on this blog!

Monthly Favourites: May 2015

Image
Here we are, children. June 2. I'm sharing today my favourites from the past month- with very blurry, low-quality pictures, courtesy of the awful, dark, stormy weather. And here they all are! I've got some makeup, skincare and polish. This month is less about specific shades and more about general products, formulas and brands. Makeup Geek Foiled Shadow in Fortune Teller I can't believe I almost didn't get this one. I made a medium-sized MUG order and it arrived this month, and I immediately became obsessed with this bright yellow-gold foil, Fortune Teller. It's perfect.  Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Harlot I picked Harlot as my favourite here because it's gorgeous on the lips, but really, I've rekindled my love for lip tar. I now own 16 shades and want to wear them every day! Country Cabin Candles and Soap Moisturizing Lotion in Sweet Orange Chili Pepper I discovered this brand in early May and quickly becam...
