The Makeup Monologues

The title of this post should really be "blatant narcissism". It's a blow-by-blow of one of my favourite looks I've ever done. It wasn't an easy look to do, but it came out swimmingly and I'd love to show it off to all of you.  Here are all of the products I used! Bam, quite a lot. The base: first I applied Too Faced's Primed & Poreless primer to my entire face. Then I used the Wet N Wild Coverall Corrector Wheel- the green on any blemishes or red spots, and the yellow on the dark circles under my eyes. Then I used three different concealers- Maybelline Fit Me as a general all-over, then Hard Candy glamouflage very sparingly under my eyes to brighten them. Finally, I used Maybelline Master Conceal to cover up anything that couldn't be covered completely by the Fit Me. This month's theme for the CBB is "Cozy Comforts." I'll be honest, I didn't know what the heck I was supposed to do with that theme when I first saw it. An eye look inspired by tomato soup...? However, I brainstormed a bunch of random things, and I'm gonna run with 'em. Hopefully they connect enough to the theme that the mods don't kick me out of the linkup. When I think of "cozy" eye looks, I think of peach, rose gold, and copper- but two shadows came to mind specifically. Those shadows are both by Colourpop cosmetics- two of their Super Shock Shadows (a measly $5 USD each), in the shades I <3 This and Game Face. October went both fast and slow for me. Midterms, Thanksgiving and Halloween took up most of my time, so I definitely didn't get to do all that much makeup-wise. Thus, I came out of the month with some clear favourites, or things I found myself using over and over again. Here they are! Ta-daaa. A lot of lip products, as per usual, and a lot of Urban Decay. 1. Urban Decay Ultra Definition Naked Skin Powder Foundation in Fair Cool This stuff is awesome and I've often been forgoing my usual routine of 3-concealers and liquid foundation for a layer of this bad boy right here. The coverage on this is truly impressive and so useful for when I'm in a rush but my skin looks awful. It evens out my skin, covers redness, and gives a natural finish. I use the sponge to apply it, and a small brush to get my undereyes. This can be used wet or dry, depending on the amount of coverage you want. Here I am. About to embark on the single most in-depth review I've attempted, my Shiro Cosmetics indie eyeshadows. (Note: Bog Body is made by Detrivore Cosmetics and thus will not be featured in this review.) Shiro is a popular indie company that boasts "handcrafted makeup and geekery". They carry other brands in their online shop as well, such as Detrivore, Victorian Disco and Femme Fatale cosmetics. They offer a wide selection of cosmetics, including custom lip glosses, finishing powders, contouring powders, and blush- but their pièce de résistance is their fandom-themed loose eyeshadows. It's so well put together and their product shots are gorgeous, and I browse without the intent to buy anything a lot because it's such a pleasant site to be on!
